Andrea DeAngelis
Summer Amnesia (Anemic Winter)

weak death
chant no winter

sun umbrellas
thrive on freshly tarred rooftops
we overhang Bedford avenue
thinking December will never come
but it does, sneaking up
eating my throat with
hammer-straightened nails
like my mother’s cough
found on you.
